The 18-time VMA winner is technically also performing during the show in a segment filmed at MSG, and the vibe will be ~Mayhem~. (Note: It’s also possible that Gaga could perform her new track, “The Dead Dance,” which dropped several days before the VMAs on September 3 in conjunction with the second half of Wednesday season 2.)
Either way, Gaga is nominated for 12 Video Music Awards this year, so let’s go through them shall we? She’s up for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Best Pop for “Die With a Smile; Artist of the Year; Best Album for Mayhem; and Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Best Visual Effects, and Best Editing for “Abracadabra.”

The winners will be announced during a star-studded bash tonight, at the UBS Arena in New York City. For the first time, CBS will simulcast the awards live alongside MTV, while Paramount+ will also stream the show for viewers around the world @ 8/7c.
The winners list will be updated during the live show with photos and videos! Stay tuned…

Lady Gaga accepted her Artist of the Year win at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards with a special shoutout to her fiancé.
The “Abracadabra” singer, 39, took home one of the night’s biggest awards on Sunday, Sept. 7, and dedicated the victory to fiancé Michael Polansky, 41, to whom she was engaged last year.
“To my partner in all things, Michael, creating this year with you was a beautiful, beautiful dream,” she said. “And you have been my partner every step of the way. I dedicate this to you, to my love.”
With that, Gaga — who headed into the night as the most-nominated artist with 12 nods — made her exit from the VMAs, telling the crowd that she had to hustle back to Manhattan to get to Madison Square Garden, where she is performing a show on her Mayhem Ball tour.
The star pre-taped her VMAs performance at an MSG show the night before, and it is set to air at some point during the show.
During her speech, she also dedicated the win to the audience.
