Gaga has picked up a new job, and it’s behind the counter of a Japanese convenience store. Today (September 25) FamilyMart Japan launched its new recruitment campaign nationwide, starring Lady Gaga as the chain’s newest staff member. The campaign is part of FamilyMart’s 45th anniversary celebrations. It shows the everyday work of convenience store staff, done the way only Gaga could do it.
Working the Shift to “Killah”
In the commercial, Gaga dances through a full shift at FamilyMart to her track “Killah.” She works the cash register, mops the floors and restocks the shelves, all while wearing tall white high heels. It’s a theatrical, fashion-forward take on a regular day at the konbini, and we can’t stop watching it.
The Look
The ad is shot in sleek black and white inside a specially built FamilyMart store. Gaga’s outfit is inspired by the chain’s new staff uniform, finished off with FamilyMart’s signature striped socks. Fashion accounts are already breaking down the custom look piece by piece.
Fun fact: the store isn’t in Japan at all. The commercial was filmed in Los Angeles on a studio-built replica of a FamilyMart.
