Lady GaGa performs ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Speechless’

GaGa’s rehearsal was closed to the public, and EW.com was allowed to remain and report on the proceedings only after much pleading and cajoling, and also some hiding. But at this point — after the Where-The-Wild-Flaming-Boob-Things-Are headtrip of her “Bad Romance” video — do you really need photographic evidence of the Lady’s abilities to know you should probably tune in? Ever since she first whacked us over the head with a disco stick, it seems even the most pop-averse among us are unable to resist her weirdo charms. At least she’s never boring. (And for the record? If even I think she deserves that Best New Artist Grammy, she probably deserves it. I’m cynical about everything.)

Gaga’s AMA performance appears to be her most far-reaching live effort yet, as though she took a look at that bizarre gyroscope dress-to-piano transition she rather botched on Saturday Night Live and said, “Yeah, but what if we made it even harder for me to get to the keyboard?” She’s not only performing “Bad Romance,” which was to be expected, but seizing the opportunity to debut “Speechless” off her Fame Monster reissue as well. This morning’s extended rehearsal was a massive effort that looked less like the prep for a shiny commercial broadcast TV show and more like the chaos surrounding load-in for a futuristic musical at some super-hardcore theater camp: As stagehands prepped the giant set pieces, a choreographer had the pack of dancers — including Gaga, in sunglasses, black bra, hot pants, and stilettos — writhing across every inch of stage. Like in the “Bad Romance” video (and the Timbaland performance from Friday’s rehearsals), there’s a lot of “Thriller” in their moves — the look is all twitchy claw hands and whatnot. While she marked the steps, Gaga gripped her mic, often directing the action or belting out lyrics a capella in her sonorous, well-trained voice.

Perez Hilton confirms via his Twitter page what GaGa is performing this sunday at the American Music Awards. It’s Bad Romance AND Speechless, which I personally think should be the second single.

The 2009 American Music Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, November 22 at 8/7c on ABC.

Lady Gaga will perform at the 37th Annual American Music Awards! Joining a quickly growing line up of performers including Daughtry, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and Adam Lambert, Gaga will take the stage November 22.

While a song choice has not been confirmed, sources believe Gaga could debut her “Fame Monster” featured single “Bad Romance” during the show.

The American Music Awards airs on ABC, November 22 at 8pm (check local listings).

Lady Gaga has left her mark on the fashion world thanks to her fashion-forward and sometimes kooky sense of style. She definitely knows how to stand out in a crowd. And come next week, she’ll be an official Stylemaker.

On Monday night, Gaga will be honored by her good friend and über-designer Marc Jacobs with the Stylemaker Award at the 13th annual Accessories Council Excellence Awards. The ACE Awards will be held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City and will also honor design icon Diane von Fürstenberg with the Accessory Visionary Award, Barbie as a Fashion Icon, and British fashion house Burberry as Brand of the Year.

According to UsMagazine.com, ACE President Karen Giberson released a statement saying, “[Gaga is] well-appointed in accessories. Just when you thought you saw everything in originality, there she is again. People anticipate what she’s going to wear, and it’s exciting to see accessories as such a meaningful part of someone’s wardrobe.”

Congratulations Lady GaGa!

Those acts crowding the nominations list of MTV Europe Music Awards this year have been unearthed with U.S. artists in domination. One in particular is Lady GaGa who has made her triumph at recent MTV Video Music Awards. The “Just Dance” singer is taking five nominations, the same amount that Kings of Leon grab.

GaGa is placed under Best Song category for “Poker Face”, Best Live Act and Best Female among others. In all three categories, she has to battle them out with Beyonce Knowles who puts up front her single “Halo”. Beyonce herself is up for four nominations, one in Best Video for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”.

The ceremony to hand out the prizes will be held in Berlin, Germany on November 5. Confirmed performers are Green Day, Leona Lewis and Tokio Hotel. “The MTV Europe Music Awards prides itself on consistently delivering exceptional live performances by some of the biggest and most exciting musical acts in the world – and this year will be no exception,” said Bruce Gillmer, co-executive producer and SVP, Talent & Music, MTV Networks International.
